On Saturday, March 7
th, Foundation of Hope hosted its Honor Your Health fair, its first of many health events scheduled throughout 2020. Bridgeport’s Housatonic Community College graciously hosted this health fair, allowing us to provide education and services to the public, particularly families and children.

True to Foundation of Hope’s mission, Saturday’s event brought a wide range of community leaders and organizations together, with a focus on physical, mental, emotional, and social health.
Planet Fitness helped keep first-things-first, with its focus on physical health and wellbeing through its gym memberships and facilities. Their trademark “no judgment zone” promotes inclusion in a broad sense, encouraging current members while also inviting new members to feel safe and comfortable while pursuing their best physical health.
The Annie C. Courtney Foundation, Inc., provides many helpful services to support the local foster care community, and joined with Foundation of Hope’s health fair with the mindset that there is a strong, undeniable link between mental health and physical health, particularly for young children. While the organization already works tirelessly for this cause, they emphasized at the event the idea that if everyone gave just a little more, it would have a huge impact on the health and wellbeing of children in our community.
Hall Neighborhood House, Inc., joined with the Honor Your Health fair to promote their wide reaching services for the community, particularly their athletic and dance studio after school programs for children. They partner with local community leaders to provide these programs, and currently have spaces available in their programs for children. Their athletics program is but one of many offerings--check here for more information.
Literacy Volunteers of Greater Bridgeport (LVBPT) participated with the mentality that education leads to a healthier life. Through their literacy skills services, targeted at adults with varying levels of English proficiency, they aim to help their students break down the language. Through this, LVBPT’s students can be more successful in their careers, while also having greater involvement in their children’s education. Foundation of Hope welcomed their support, particularly as the Foundation sees great importance in education and childcare, as well as overall health.
VK Realty partnered with Honor Your Health to provide consultations with fair participants for their home ownership educational services, ranging from the fundamentals of buying and selling a home, as well as information on the investing process. The group’s involvement and collaboration with many communities throughout CT mirrors Foundation of Hope’s own emphasis on far-reaching community engagement.
We’d like to extend additional thanks to Assurance Wireless and DJ Ronald for their invaluable participation in Saturday’s event.
We again thank our community partners for March 7th’s Honor Your Health fair, and look forward our next Honor Your Health fair, on Saturday, March 21st, hosted at the SoNo Collection in Norwalk. We look forward to both community supporters and individual participation in our charitable health initiatives.
